Or can be created. The lifelong newspaper person in me yearns for those good old print media days that will not return. And I keep asking who's going to do investigative reporting, hold the feet of governments & corporations to a small fire at least and perhaps uphold some standard of excellence (grammatical, literary, content-wise, editorial) that copy editors and city desk people used to demand. Not to mention helping good writers with good brains make a living. Surely this will happen. I am, meanwhile, having a ball with True/Slant (trueslant.com/franjohns) and think it's a good site and have high hopes. Come on over. I HOPE the model exists. Or can be created.
